The gîte is situated 1.5 km from the small market town of Sourdeval in lower Normandy. There is a full array of shops including supermarkets, boulangeries, launderette, pharmacy, banks, post office, hairdressers, beautician and of course bars and restaurants. There is a weekly market on a Tuesday morning.
10km away, Mortain provides further amenities including an open-air swimming pool and free music concerts during the summer months. There are walks around the magnificent cascades and La Petite Chapel and Hill 314 provide an insight into the history of Mortain in 1944.
Vire is 15km away and offers a larger array of shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a swimming pool, a bowling alley and a Friday morning market.
